UCLA right-hander Logan Reddemann delivered a historic performance on Friday night, striking out 18 batters and tying the school single-game record in a 14-inning 4-1 win over Rutgers. The Bruins continued the dominance in the bullpen as Cal Randall, Zach Strickland, and Easton Hawk combined for 12 strikeouts in relief, giving the team 30 punchouts on the night, one shy of the NCAA record.
Reddemann matched the mark set by Rob Henkel in 2000, showcasing elite control and velocity on the road. The Bruins’ pitching staff was nearly flawless, allowing just four hits and one run while walking only one batter across 11 innings.
UCLA’s offense provided just enough support with four runs, including a key two-run double in the sixth inning. The game went into extra innings after a late rally by Rutgers, but the Bruins' defense held strong to preserve the win.
The victory marked the 25th consecutive win for UCLA, extending its streak to 31-2 on the season. The team is just nine wins away from tying the all-time Division I record of 34 straight victories, a mark previously set by Texas in 1977 and Florida Atlantic in 1999.
Reddemann, currently not among the top 100 prospects for the 2026 MLB Draft, is expected to move into the rankings soon as MLB Pipeline expands its draft coverage later this month. He will join fellow Bruins Roch Cholowsky, the No. 1 overall prospect, and Mulivai Levu, ranked No. 94, on the list.
Cholowsky, a left-handed pitcher with a polished delivery and a mid-90s fastball, is projected to go in the first round and is being compared to current MLB standout Cole Irvin. Levu, a power-hitting catcher with above-average defensive skills, is expected to be selected in the top 100 and could find a home as a backstop in the majors.
With Reddemann's performance, the Bruins have proven they are one of the nation’s most complete teams. The pitching staff ranks first in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings, while the offense continues to provide timely hits and clutch production.
UCLA will look to continue its historic run when it hosts NC State in a three-game series beginning on April 18. The team remains in the hunt for the NCAA record for consecutive wins and could make history before the season ends.
