The Houston Astros blanked the Texas Rangers 1-0 in a combined no-hitter on Monday night, while the Baltimore Orioles’ Colton Cowser homered in back-to-back games and Brewers righty Jacob Misiorowski set a new MLB record for pitches thrown at 100+ mph in a single season.
Astros right-hander Tatsuya Imai and two relievers combined to throw the first no-hitter since 2024, shutting out the Rangers on just one hit. Imai, who had struggled upon his return from the IL, pitched six innings with four walks but no hits or runs. Steven Okert and Alimber Santa, who made his MLB debut, closed the final three innings. Santa, who had never faced a major league batter before Monday, struck out one and preserved the historic shutout. “I never pictured myself coming in and finishing off a no-hitter,” Santa told reporters. “What I pictured was coming in and throwing strikes and maybe striking out one batter.”
Colton Cowser continued his hot stretch for the Orioles, going back-to-back with a two-run walk-off home run in a 2-1 win over the Rays on Monday. Cowser, who entered the weekend with just one homer on the season, has now hit three in four games. The walk-off capped a 13-inning thriller and gave Baltimore its third win in four games. Shane Baz will look to continue the momentum on Tuesday when he starts against the Rays, his former team.
Jacob Misiorowski dominated in a 4-1 Brewers win over the Cardinals, striking out 12 over seven innings. Misiorowski set a new MLB record with 57 pitches at 100+ mph in the pitch-tracking era. After issuing a leadoff walk to JJ Wetherholt, he retired the next 15 batters before Pedro Pages reached in the sixth. Misiorowski struck out Masyn Winn to end the game, with six of his pitches topping 100 mph. “That’s what I do,” Misiorowski said. “I throw hard.”
With the win, the Brewers improved to 24-20, moving into a tie with the Rays for second in the AL East. The Orioles, who remain at .500 (20-20), look to build on recent success as they face a tough stretch against division rivals. The Astros, now at 22-19, will aim to extend their winning ways as they continue their road trip against the A’s.
