The Boston Celtics are fielding trade interest in Jaylen Brown from the Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers. Brown, who was named to the Second Team All-NBA this season, is a coveted target due to his on-court production and contract flexibility.
Brown has three years and $183 million remaining on his contract. His five-year, $304 million deal with the Celtics, signed in 2022, includes a player option for the 2028–29 season. The Celtics could also offer him a two-year extension this offseason.
Brown played a critical role in Boston’s 2023–24 season. He averaged 22.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 44.3% from three-point range. His performance helped the Celtics finish with a 46–36 record despite missing Jayson Tatum for much of the season due to injury and losing Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Luke Kornet.
The Hawks, Rockets, and Blazers each have valuable trade assets. They reportedly hold multiple first-round draft picks that could entice Boston. The Celtics have not ruled out trading Brown as they assess their roster and salary cap situation heading into the summer.
Boston has also been linked to a potential blockbuster deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. If the Bucks pursue a rebuild, they may be open to a trade that includes Brown. This could shift Boston’s trade priorities and impact which team ultimately acquires the Celtics’ forward.
Jason Glushon, Brown’s agent, is in the final season of his current representation contract with the player. No official statements have been made regarding Brown’s availability or trade preferences.
Teams will monitor developments as the trade deadline approaches. The NBA trade window remains open until February 20.
