Carolina Hurricanes Shut Out Vegas 3-0 to Win 2026 Stanley Cup in Game 6

The Carolina Hurricanes shut out the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game Six of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final on Monday night at T-Mobile Arena to capture their second championship in franchise history. With the win, Carolina secured the series 4-2, completing a dramatic turnaround after trailing 2-1 in the series entering Game Four.

Taylor Hall led the way offensively with two goals and an assist, while goaltender Brandon Bussi made 34 saves en route to a shutout performance. The Hurricanes’ defense, anchored by Jacob Slavin and Rasmus Andersson, held Vegas scoreless for the first time in the series.

The Hurricanes struck first at 8:23 of the first period when Taylor Hall received a stretch pass from Jacob Slavin and beat Vegas goaltender Carter Hart with a snap shot to the glove side. Jackson Blake added the second assist on the play, giving Hall 19 points in the playoffs, a series-high and a new franchise playoff record.

Carolina’s Sebastian Aho came dangerously close to making it 2-0 in the first, but a centering pass slipped through his stick. Bussi remained sharp in net, making a highlight-reel glove save on Tomas Hertl and another on Brett Howden to keep the Golden Knights at bay.

Vegas struggled to generate consistent offense throughout the night, managing just 10 shots in the opening period compared to Carolina’s 8. The Hurricanes extended their lead to 2-0 in the second period when Jackson Blake converted a rebound with a one-timer from the slot at 13:12. The goal came after a shift where Logan Stankoven controlled the puck in the offensive zone.

The Golden Knights had a chance to cut into the deficit late in the third period when Jack Eichel rang a shot off the crossbar with Bussi beaten. The Hurricanes added insurance with under a minute to go when Nikolaj Ehlers scored into the empty net to seal the 3-0 victory.

Jordan Staal, who finished the playoffs with 14 goals and 33 points, was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. The Hurricanes, who entered the playoffs as a Wild Card team, became only the fourth team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup after losing the first two games of the Final.

The Golden Knights, who entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the West, will now turn their attention to free agency and the 2026 NHL Draft. For Carolina, the celebration begins, and a new era of Hurricanes hockey is now officially underway.
