Glasgow Clan secured third place at Playoff Finals Weekend with a 3-2 victory over Manchester Storm in a tightly contested matchup. The win capped off a strong showing for the Clan, who finished with a record of 15-8-3 in the regular season. Manchester, which entered with a 14-9-3 record, pushed hard but fell short of matching Glasgow’s late-game execution.
The Storm opened the scoring just 8:30 into the first period when 19-year-old Connor Lee beat Clan goaltender Liam Souliere with a wrist shot from the hashmarks. “It was a long time coming and hopefully will open the floodgates,” Lee said after the game. Glasgow responded with 4:50 left in the period as forward Mick Messner tied the game from the high slot with a quick snapshot.
The second period remained scoreless for the first 15 minutes as both teams tested each other’s netminders. Souliere and Manchester’s Evan Weninger combined to make 11 saves in the frame. Storm’s Harrison Caines regained the lead for Manchester with 4:54 to play in the period, beating Souliere under the glove with a snap shot.
Glasgow retook the lead just 3:46 later when Hugo Roy converted a pass from Daniel Tedesco into a goal, equalizing the score. Rylan Schwartz then assisted on a point shot that was tipped in by Brady Risk with 2:04 left in the second, giving the Clan their first lead of the night.
Weninger was pulled in the third period in favor of Tyler de la Bertouche, who shut out the Clan on 14 shots. Despite the strong goaltending, Manchester could not find an equalizer, and Glasgow held on for the victory.

Hugo Roy, who finished the game with a goal and an assist, said: “We wanted to rally and get this last win together as a group. Sometimes when it was a bit hard for us on the ice, they kept pushing us and believing in us. Getting to the Final Four, it was for them mostly.”
Connor Lee, who led Manchester with a goal and a game-high 28:32 of ice time, added: “To see where we got to at the end of this season, it’s been good to prove the haters wrong – that feels great.”
Glasgow’s Liam Souliere finished with 26 saves on 28 shots, while de la Bertouche stopped 14 of 14 in relief. The Clan will now turn their attention to the offseason, with team meetings expected to take place in early June.

The Houston Astros have outrighted right-hander J.P. France to Triple-A Sugar Land. The move comes after France cleared waivers following his designation for assignment last week. The 28-year-old now has the option to elect free agency, though the club has not yet announced his decision.
