
The NHL announced the 2025-26 All-Rookie Team with the New York Islanders’ Matthew Schaefer, Montreal Canadiens’ Ivan Demidov and Anaheim Ducks’ Beckett Sennecke named as the three finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy. Joining them were Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes, Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin and Blues forward Jimmy Snuggerud. The Professional Hockey Writers Association conducted the voting following the regular season.
Jakub Dobes led all rookie goaltenders with 29 wins in 43 games. His 29-10-4 record ranked third in save percentage (.901) and fifth in goals-against average (2.78) among rookies with at least 10 appearances. Dobes became the fourth Canadiens goaltender to make the All-Rookie Team since 1984-85.
Alexander Nikishin tallied 11-22, 33 in 81 games for the Hurricanes, setting a franchise record for goals by a rookie defenseman. His +18 rating ranked second among all rookies and he led in hits (132) and power-play goals (4). Nikishin is just the second Hurricanes defenseman to earn All-Rookie honors since 1997-98.
Matthew Schaefer, the No. 1 overall pick in 2025, made history with 23-36, 59 in 82 games. He became the first defenseman in over 90 years to lead rookies in goals and the youngest player in NHL history to score an overtime goal. Schaefer also led all rookies in total time on ice with 2,023:59.
Ivan Demidov led all rookies with 19-43, 62, becoming the seventh Canadiens player to reach 60 points in a season. He set a franchise record for assists by a rookie and was the first to record 40 assists since 2003-04. Demidov and Dobes marked the third time the Canadiens had multiple All-Rookie selections in a single season.

Beckett Sennecke matched the third-most goals by a Ducks rookie with 23 and totaled 60 points in 82 games. He tied for the rookie lead in even-strength goals with 21 and led in even-strength points with 46. Sennecke became the third Ducks rookie to play all 82 games in a season.
Jimmy Snuggerud of the Blues tallied 21-30, 51 in 70 games and led all rookies in game-winning goals with five. His +16 rating ranked among the top in scoring categories and he became the first Blues rookie to reach 50 points since 1991-92. Snuggerud is the fourth Blues forward to make the All-Rookie Team since 1989-90.
The 2025-26 NHL season playoffs begin on April 18 with each of these teams looking to capitalize on the success of their rookie stars.
