The Sacramento Kings are considering a move up in the NBA Draft to select Darius Acuff Jr. with the No. 7 pick according to Jake Fischer of The People's Insider. While the team is comfortable staying at No. 7 they are also exploring options to improve their position if they feel it benefits their draft strategy. Acuff a 6'6" guard from the University of Tennessee is projected to go in the mid to late first round.
The Kings have a history with Acuff's family as general manager Scott Perry coached Darius Acuff Sr. at Eastern Kentucky in the 1990s. That connection could influence their interest in the younger Acuff who averaged 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game during his college season. Acuff shot 38.7% from three-point range and displayed solid ball-handling skills for a wing.
Acuff is not the only team’s priority. The Milwaukee Bucks own the No. 10 pick and have also worked out Acuff. The Bucks are looking to add perimeter depth as they rebuild around their young core. Acuff’s ability to shoot defend and create his own shot fits the modern NBA style.
Jake Fischer notes that while the Kings are interested in trading up they are not desperate to do so. Perry’s team has a solid draft board and believes they can still get a top prospect at No. 7. The Kings have shown interest in multiple wing prospects including Acuff and are weighing their options carefully.
Acuff is expected to go in the top 15 and could be a good fit for a team looking for a shooter and perimeter defender. His 7'1" wingspan and 25.5-inch vertical from the combine make him a physical threat on both ends of the floor. The Kings have a need for a versatile guard and Acuff’s college production suggests he can contribute early in his pro career.
The Kings and Bucks are both monitoring Acuff’s draft stock as the June 25 draft approaches. Team executives will meet with prospects and evaluate mock drafts before making final decisions. The Kings have until the draft to decide whether to stay at No. 7 or try to trade up.

The Dallas Mavericks have made it clear to interested teams that Kyrie Irving is not for sale, sources told Marc Stein of The Stein Line. However, the Mavs remain open to trading Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, and Daniel Gafford as they continue to evaluate their roster ahead of the trade deadline.
