The Miami Heat are reportedly in the lead in a potential blockbuster trade to acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the deal possibly including Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the No. 13 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Marc Stein of The Stein Line confirmed the Heat’s aggressive pursuit of the Greek superstar, who has struggled with injuries and discontent in Milwaukee.
The Boston Celtics remain a key player in the discussions, having submitted their own offer for Antetokounmpo that could involve Jaylen Brown. The 25-year-old Brown is averaging 21.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season, making him a compelling trade asset for the Bucks. Meanwhile, Giannis has averaged 24.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game over his career, though his 2024 season has been limited by injury and a lack of team chemistry.
The Heat’s offer could reshape both teams’ futures. Herro, a three-time All-Star, is under contract through 2026 and has averaged 16.6 points per game this season. Ware and Jaquez Jr. are young, versatile defenders who could bolster the Heat’s depth. The No. 13 pick adds value and gives the Bucks another young player to pair with Antetokounmpo.
The Bucks, meanwhile, are reportedly operating as if they’ll have an extra first-round pick in addition to their own No. 10 selection in the 2025 draft. That could mean a third team, such as the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, or Portland Trail Blazers, is being considered to help facilitate the deal.
The Celtics’ offer involving Brown signals their willingness to make a major move if it means keeping pace with the Heat in the Eastern Conference. Boston is currently in a tight playoff race and could use Antetokounmpo’s scoring and playmaking to elevate their chances.
The Heat’s pursuit of Giannis reflects a bold shift in their direction after years of contending with the aging LeBron James. Acquiring a top-tier superstar could accelerate Miami’s rebuild and signal a new era under coach Erik Spoelstra.
The NBA trade deadline is set for June 15, giving the Heat, Celtics, and Bucks a clear window to finalize a deal. The Bucks are expected to make a decision soon on whether to move Antetokounmpo or try to retain him with a new contract offer.
