TITLE: Kirk Cousins Hails Brock Bowers as 'Best Tight End in Football' as Raiders QB Battle Heats Up
Newly signed quarterback Kirk Cousins has already made it clear that he sees Las Vegas Raiders star tight end Brock Bowers as an elite weapon and a potential game-changer in the Raiders' offense. In a recent interview with the team's Amber Theoharis, Cousins called Bowers "the best tight end in football" and expressed excitement about the creative possibilities that come with playing alongside such a versatile talent.
Cousins’ comments carry weight given his history of success with tight ends. During his time with Washington, Minnesota, and Atlanta, he worked with standout TEs like Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis, Kyle Rudolph, T.J. Hockenson, Irv Smith, and Kyle Pitts. In each case, Cousins helped elevate their production and effectiveness.
Bowers has already proven his worth since entering the league in 2023. As a rookie, he set records for receptions (112) and receiving yards (1,194) by a first-year tight end. Last season, despite missing time due to injury, he still managed 64 catches for 680 yards and seven touchdowns in just 12 games. He finished in the top 10 among tight ends in catches, yards, and touchdowns.
Cousins said Bowers presents "a curveball" for opposing defenses and that "he gives us an ability to use a lot of different personnel groupings." He added, "I think that can allow us to be very creative with how we attack defenses."
The Raiders are still determining whether Cousins or rookie No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza will start the season as their quarterback. But regardless of who takes the snaps, Bowers is expected to remain a focal point in Klint Kubiak’s offense.
Cousins also hinted at the potential for a productive on-field relationship with Bowers. "Can't wait to see how we can use him and to get on the grass with him," he said. "Even routes on air, I think it's going to be exciting to see a guy like that go to work."
The Raiders have until the start of the regular season to finalize their quarterback decision. Training camp will be the ultimate test for both Cousins and Mendoza, as well as the entire offense. With Bowers in the mix, expectations are high for a breakout season in Las Vegas.

The San Antonio Spurs edged the Dallas Mavericks 114-109 on Friday night, but the story was not the win. It was Victor Wembanyama’s 40-point, 13-rebound performance in just 26 minutes, a calculated move to reach the 65-game threshold required for regular-season award eligibility.
