Junior center Isaiah Hill committed to Purdue on Friday, giving the Boilermakers their highest-rated recruit since 2007. The 7-foot-0 Indiana native is ranked No. 8 in the SC Next 60 for the 2027 class and brings elite size and upside to Matt Painter’s program.
Hill joins Purdue as the first commit in its 2027 recruiting class. His arrival continues a strong trend for the Boilermakers, who landed five four-star prospects in the 2026 class and were ranked 11th in the nation by ESPN.
"[Head coach] Matt Painter keeps it real," Hill said. "He is a hard worker who coaches to win. Off the court he can be a funny guy, but you wouldn't know it. His plan is to help me develop, as I help the team win and give me a chance at the NBA."
Hill has been a standout in high school, showcasing a versatile skill set that includes rim protection, mid-range shooting, and playmaking ability. He averaged 15.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season while shooting 62% from the field. His 7-foot-1 wingspan and 8-foot-1 standing reach make him one of the most physically gifted prospects in the class.
Purdue’s frontcourt has been a focal point of the program in recent years. The Boilermakers have produced multiple NBA draft picks in recent seasons, and Hill’s commitment signals a continued emphasis on developing elite big men. With Purdue's current roster set to graduate three frontcourt starters by 2027, Hill could be a key piece in maintaining the team’s dominance in the Big Ten.
Hill’s commitment also adds immediate depth to the Boilermakers’ future. He will join a 2027 class that is still in the early stages of building, with several top-40 prospects remaining on the board. Purdue’s success in landing Hill could give them a boost in the national rankings for the class.
The next step for Hill is the 2024-25 season, where he will continue to hone his skills and prepare for the 2027 NBA Draft. With his combination of size, skill, and work ethic, Hill is positioned to be a top-15 pick in a loaded draft class.

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs 127-114 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals to take a 3-2 series lead. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 32 points and nine assists, anchoring a balanced Thunder attack that outlasted the Spurs on the road.
