The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final to capture their second championship in franchise history. Taylor Hall scored the opening goal at 3:47 of the first period, while Jackson Blake and Logan Stankoven added key points to support a 22-save shutout from Brandon Bussi.
Hall led the way with a goal and an assist, extending his single-postseason franchise record for points in potential series-clinching games to 3-6, 9 in four games. He also set a new mark for road points in a single postseason with 4-7, 11 in nine games. Hall finished the playoffs with a League-best 12 points on go-ahead goals, including five goals and seven assists.
Blake was a point machine throughout the playoffs, finishing as the Hurricanes’ top assist leader with 13 and second in points with 20. His seven multi-point games in the postseason tied a franchise record and placed him second in the NHL behind only Mitch Marner, who had eight in 2026.
Bussi, the undrafted rookie netminder, made history with his shutout in the Cup clincher, becoming only the second undrafted goaltender to do so in the past 50 years. His 22 saves secured the Hurricanes’ perfect 4-0 record in potential series-clinching games this year.

Jordan Staal, the team captain, was voted the 2026 Conn Smythe Trophy winner after a record-setting performance in the Final. At 37 years old, he became the oldest to win the award and the first to score in each of the first five games of a Final in 70 years. Staal also set a new face-off percentage record in the Final at 68.0% and led the NHL with 235 face-off wins in the playoffs.
The Hurricanes became just the second team since 2008 to win the Stanley Cup after staying in the playoff race all season. They lost only three games in the entire postseason, including just one in the Final. Carolina also set a franchise record for road wins in a single postseason with eight, and for total playoff wins with 69.

With this win, the Hurricanes join an elite list of teams who have won the Cup after a long wait. Staal now has two championships, including one as a player with the 2009 Penguins. He and his brother Eric are the 17th set of siblings in NHL history to win a Stanley Cup with the same franchise.
The 2026 Stanley Cup Final will be remembered for its drama, dominance, and historic performances. As the Hurricanes celebrate, the next chapter begins: the 2026 NHL Draft.
